Resilience at the Speed of Life

After the Holidays: Restoring Rhythm & Direction

The Edge of Resilience Series Part 3
Facilitated by Kellie Mix & John Previtera

In our latest Burnout & Resilience facilitated conversation, one theme came through loud and clear: the holidays don’t always restore us, and January often asks us to sprint before we’ve actually refueled.

Together, we talked about “compartmentalized chaos,” the very real stress letdown that can hit when the body finally downshifts, and the hidden workload we create when our calendars fill with meetings that generate even more prep and follow-up.

The group shared practical ways to protect energy and focus: phased re-entry, building predictable routines, blocking thinking time as a leadership responsibility (not a luxury), and naming “non-negotiables” that keep the nervous system steady even when the world is noisy.

We closed with a powerful shift: instead of adding more goals, what might we let go of this year?
