Leadership that Lifts
Friday, October 3, 2025 | Garden of the Gods, Colorado
Hosted by Sixth Wing and AFN

Leadership doesn’t happen at ground level—it requires lift. That’s the philosophy behind Leadership that Lifts, a high-impact collaboration between Sixth Wing, a human-centered leadership firm that builds trust, strengthens resilience, and drives performance, and AFN, the leading peer-to-peer executive network for dynamic leaders. Together, we’ve designed an experience that mirrors flight: intentional preparation, transformational elevation, and a return to work with renewed clarity and purpose.

PRE-FLIGHT: Prepare for Takeoff
‍Your journey begins the moment you register. From personalized pre-event materials to mindset prompts that ground you in purpose, you’ll arrive ready to engage fully with yourself, your peers, and the breathtaking landscape of the Garden of the Gods.

IN-FLIGHT: Immersive Leadership at Altitude
‍Join us for a day of high-impact sessions crafted for real-time growth and real-world relevance. You’ll learn alongside founders, executives, and rising leaders in an environment where transformation isn’t just possible—it’s expected.

Choose Your Flight Path
To enhance your experience, we’re running two concurrent tracks of programming throughout the day. Whether you're looking to sharpen your communication skills, deepen your resilience, or explore the power of persuasion, you can select the sessions that best align with your goals. Each track is designed to offer practical, high-impact learning—so no matter which path you choose, you’ll gain the lift you need.

Present with Confidence & Communication Training: 9:00 - Noon

Delivering compelling presentations and speaking in front of groups requires a range of skills that can be honed and developed. During this training, you will learn how to prepare yourself based on key "firsts," the importance of verbal and nonverbal cues in delivering your message effectively, how to recognize and reduce your use of fillers, and how to approach different types of audiences.

Facilitated by  Bridget Ruiz, Kellie Mix, and John Previtera

Power by Persuasion (through personality & presence): 9:00 - 10:30 am

As human beings, we have a natural tendency to persuade others in the manner that would be most convincing to us. In reality, great persuasion is more about what others need to hear rather than what we want to tell them. During this workshop, we introduce you to three persuasion personality types and examine the most effective words and tactics for persuading others. At its core, persuasion is the ability to convince others that they are doing what you want because they want to do it.

The Power in the Pit: Reclaiming Narrative in Leadership: 9:00 - Noon

Periods of burnout, failure, or disruption are often viewed as setbacks in leadership — but they’re also some of the most potent opportunities for growth and clarity. In both individual performance and organizational transformation, the most significant shifts often come after the bottom falls out.The Power in the Pit explores what happens when leaders face that bottom moment. Drawing on principles from behavioral science, emotional regulation, and values-driven leadership, this workshop reframes burnout and breakdown as pivotal moments for realignment and informed decision-making. Participants will walk through a structured reflection process that helps them extract lasting insight from personal or professional inflection points — and build practical tools for facing the next challenge with more clarity and control. This session isn’t about motivation. It’s about using real moments of disruption as the foundation for smarter, more grounded leadership.

Mastering the Art of Negotiation: 1:00 - 2:30 pm

The skill of negotiating is both an art and a science. We focus on relationship-building and interest-based negotiations that are grounded in thorough preparation. Coming to the table equipped with the necessary tactics, information, and preparation grants you the confidence to be fully present in representing your best interests. During this training, you will learn essential negotiation tactics and practice applying your negotiation skills in real-world situations.

The Edge of Resilience: 1:00 - 2:30 pm

Today’s high performers walk a tightrope between pressure and burnout. The Edge of Resilience equips leaders to recognize where they are on that line—and how to shift it. This workshop introduces practical tools to assess burnout risk, reconnect with core motivators, and lead from a place of grounded energy.  Participants will explore how to identify early warning signs in themselves and others, utilize the GROW–PERFORM–SUSTAIN (GPS) model to assess their current balance, and adopt resilience practices that foster sustainable performance.
